National History

Beta Chi Theta National Fraternity Inc. is a nationally registered social fraternity that was established in 1999 at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). On June 2, 1999, Beta Chi Theta was formally acknowledged by the University and granted membership into the UCLA Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC). Beta Chi Theta was originally founded by 8 students and today has over 600 brothers in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Indiana, Florida, Minnesota, and Wisconsin .

In April of 2006, Beta Chi Theta was granted membership into the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). This is a huge accomplishment for South Asians peoples as it marks assimilation and acceptance of South Asian culture and values into American.

Beta Chi Theta was founded upon several principles: tradition, service to humanity, promoting cultural awareness, academic excellence, striving to create a unified nationwide network, and most importantly brotherhood. These principles are the unifying factors that tie every brother across the United States together, and form the foundation of beliefs that characterize our gentlemen. Beta Chi Theta is a means by which students of any ethnicity may come together and form a bond of brotherhood that lasts a lifetime.

Beta Chi Theta continues to grow exponentially with over 600 brothers from 13 chapters across the country. As this grand fraternity continues to mature, the brothers positively impact the lives of the many people who come in contact with them with their honor, respect, and responsibility to life through their existence.

Mu Colony History

In the early spring of 2008, fifteen young men from the University of Florida located in Gainesville, FL, contacted the Founding Chapter of Beta Chi Theta at the University of California in Los Angeles in regards to expanding the Fraternity to the University of Florida.

Once Beta Chi Theta knew that the request was both genuine and serious they sent brothers from the eastern region to act as representatives for the fraternity at an informational session held in Gainesville.

On February 19th, fifteen men began their New Member Process under the direction of Rahul Kapoor. On May 4, 2008, the Alpha class of Mu Colony crossed into the dawn of brotherhood as initiates and as the largest group of Founding Fathers in Beta Chi Theta history. The Alpha class almost immediately went to work on fraternity related business during the summer of 2008.

The Founding Fathers of Mu Colony continued to work and establish themselves on campus early in the fall by hosting various philanthropy, social, and leadership events. However, the main goal for the fifteen Gentlemen was to establish themselves on campus. This didn’t happen until spring of 2009, when Beta Chi Theta was officially founded at the University of Florida as one of three new Greek organizations to be inducted into the Multicultural Greek Council.
